Bonus karma shares

A bonus share is the portion of a bonus pool that each user receives at the end of a bonus period (day, week, month, or quarter). It's calculated proportionally — the more karma a user earned during the period, the larger their share of the bonus coins.

How it works

The total bonus pool is divided among users based on their share of the karma earned that period. If someone earned 70% of all karma given out, they receive 70% of the bonus coins.

Example

Setup:

  • Monthly bonus pool: 500 coins
  • Four team members all received karma this month

Karma earned during the month:

  • Alice: 40 karma
  • Bob: 30 karma
  • Carol: 20 karma
  • Dan: 10 karma
  • Total: 100 karma

Bonus distribution:

  • Alice: 40% of 500 = 200 coins
  • Bob: 30% of 500 = 150 coins
  • Carol: 20% of 500 = 100 coins
  • Dan: 10% of 500 = 50 coins

The formula
Individual bonus = (karma earned by user ÷ total karma earned by all users) × bonus pool

Things worth knowing
Users who received zero karma during the period receive no bonus coins. The bonus pool resets at the start of each new period — karma does not carry over from one period to the next for bonus calculation purposes.

You can configure the bonus pool size and period length in Settings → Rewards → Bonus program
