# @username [N]++ description

The simplest format is simply `@username++`.

``Chat response:

+1 karma requested for @username``

You'll get more value out of Karma bot environment when you accompany each karma request with *the description*.
`@username ++ description` requests positive karma for `@username` if it is allowed by [Who can request karma](https://help.karmabot.chat/en/article/who-can-request-karma-1w71415/?bust=1653921956570) option.

``Chat response:

+1 karma requested for @username``

If the requesting user is a moderator or [Auto-approve all requests](https://help.karmabot.chat/en/article/auto-approve-all-requests-111zaja/?bust=1653922051753) option is enabled there will be no such message.

To give more than 1 karma at once karma value should be specified within a command.

`@username 5++ description` requests karma 5 karma for `@username`.

``Chat response:

+5 karma requested for @username``

It is not possible to request karma for users who do not accept it. This is defined per user via Roles settings.

If a user does not accept karma Karma bot will give a warning.

``Does not accept karma response:

Sorry, user @username does not accept karma.``

Multiple users and [Slack Actions](https://help.karmabot.chat/en/article/quick-actions-1dibszn/?bust=1653922103208) are also supported.

`@username1 @username2 @username3 ++`

``Chat response:

+1 karma requested for @username1
+1 karma requested for @username2
+1 karma requested for @username3``

In addition to the above, Karma bot for Slack can understand HipChat Karma bot format:

`@username++++` – add 3 karma points (count(+) - 1, 5 max).

``Chat response:

+3 karma requested for @username``
